2020 is going to be my year. I am setting goals for the year and I will achieve them. At least that’s the plan. 2018 and 2019 were not the greatest as far is my riding endeavors. In 2018 I had three injuries that kept me sidelined a good part of the summer and fall. Two were horse related, and one was the fault of my grand scheme to run a 5K. My tibia disagreed and I had a pretty bad stress fracture. Add to the mix a horse that was meant to by my jumper project, who refused to jump. At all. Not even a little. 2019 came and I decided I needed to find a better-suited home for that horse. He is now becoming a dressage horse, which suits him much better. The long, hot summer was spent pretty much walking and trotting my 25-year-old Appy Trakehnerr cross, Chico. He’s a good boy, but I felt a little guilty doing much more than walking.
Unfortunately, with injuries and not riding, my fitness level tanked. So one of my goals for 2020 is getting in shape to be the rider my horses need me to be. I’ve started rider-specific exercises, and my goal is to do the routines 6 days a week with one day off. Again, at least that’s the plan. I’ve done two days in a row! Woohoo!!
